Aloe cleanser
Thanks to my mum, I have grown up with the belief that Aloe vera can cure just about anything! Certainly when I suffered from childhood eczema, Aloe vera was incredible at soothing angry, irritated flare-ups.
I still use and prescribe Aloe vera as a digestive aid, to treat inflamed skin and as an ingredient in beauty and skincare products.
The use of Aloe vera dates back to Ancient Kemetian Ebers Papyrus (circa 16th century BCE), where it is known as the 'plant of immortality'.
Aloe's demulcent, astringent and healing properties make it an ideal natural facial cleanser.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons of Aloe vera gel (I have used Lily of the Desert)
10 drops of witch hazel. If you have dry skin, you can substitute the witch hazel for a plant oil
5 drops of lavender essential oil
Method
Combine all the ingredients together and apply as a facial cleanser.
Store in the fridge and use within 2-3 weeks
This blend can also be used on burns and sunburn.
