Sensuality
The EmpowerMentor Dr Andrea Pennington teaches that "part of a holistic plan for healthy living, full of sensual vitality includes being connected to your erotic energy". However for many women and men this can be difficult to achieve due to busy lifestyles, physical ailments, psychological and emotional challenges, childhood traumas, adult traumas, etc.
Sensuality is "the enjoyment, expression, or pursuit of physical, especially sexual, pleasure" or "the condition of being pleasing or fulfilling to the senses." As we can see, expressing our sensuality is far more than just sex. It is about connecting us with our bodies, with our emotions, with our truest expressions. It is about self-love and self-care and enhancing this immense healing energy.
Herbs and essential oils can be extremely effective in helping us to connect with our sensuality as they enable us to reconnect with our senses and our truest expression of self.
Essential Oil Blend
Combine the following essential oils:
Lavender (5 drops)
Lavender oil is probably one of the most well-known essential oils, particularly for its relaxing and calming properties. It is indicated in cases where there is stress and physical pain.
Orange (5 drops)
Citrus oils are particularly uplifting. It is useful for anger or frustration and digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome.
Sandalwood (5 drops)
Sandalwood is one of my favourite essential oils because it is incredibly grounding and creates an expansion of the lungs helping to improve our breathing.
(Sandalwood has been over-harvested in recent years so ensure that you buy your oils from reputable companies). You could also use Cedarwood or Frankincense instead.
Vetiver (3 drops)
Vetiver has a sweet and woody aroma and is useful in the treatment of depression, insomnia and nervous tension.
How to use the blend
Space
Add 4-6 drops of this blend into an oil burner or diffuser.
Body
Add the essential oil blend to 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil and use as a massage oil.
